If possible, try to schedule your visit to the BVI when there will be a full moon. The moonlight bathes the island and tropical waters in a silvery light and makes for a magical view. There are many who find the full moon a perfect time to host a fabulous party, and on Tortola there is just such a celebration on both ends of the island.

At Cappoon’s Bay (next to Apple Bay) is Bomba’s Shack; a rough wooden structure of driftwood, metal, surf boards and decorated with all shapes and sizes of undergarments. Supposedly if you take off your panties or bra you can get a Bomba’s t-shirt. It’s a wild kind of party with music and lots of drinking. The party doesn’t really get started until 11 p.m. or so.

On the other end of the island out by the airport is the Trellis Bay Full Moon party.
With live local bands on stage, traditional Caribbean Mocko Jumbies or stilt walkers in colorful clothing, and artwork by Aragorn light up the beach. Aragorn’s fireballs, cubes and pyramids are intricately carved and filled with flames throughout the night. Between the flames reflecting off the water, the moonlight and the music – you are bound to have a fabulous time!
